OK – I’ll admit, I’m a little on the fence about this one. I always hated reading logs and felt like they sucked all the joy out of reading. However, I know other parents who have used them effectively and didn’t have problems with them. So here is Reading Rewards – a free online site to track reading. Kids can enter daily reading entries and earn points. Points can then be spent for either things like “Joke of the Day” or rewards that you can enter in like “Special Dessert”. There are several things about this site that I can see using. I always track the books my boys read and this would be a good way to do that. I also like having my kids write book reviews. There is also a way of connecting with friends to talk about books you liked and make suggestions (I could see doing this with our homeschool co-op). So, if reading logs work for you – here’s a great, free resource!
