Homeschool Buyer’s Co-op
It’s high time I wrote a post about Homeschool Buyer’s Co-op. One of the things I’m trying to highlight on this site is the explosion of online content that is not necessarily aimed at the homeschool community. With the focus on higher standards and use of technology in the classroom, there is a boom in online content. Unfortunately, much of it is not available to us because they are selling it to entire school districts. If it is available, the cost is usually prohibitive. However, the Homeschool Buyer’s Co-op has changed that. By banding together as homeschool families, we can purchase as if we were a large school district. This kind of buying power can also be used to lower the price of homeschool curricula.
Their site offers curricula in all subjects at large discounts, often 50-60% off. They also offer a free classified section where you can buy and sell used curricula, a section on where to find free resources, money tips, writing tips and even a really cool section where you can find interesting field trips for places you might be visiting. Their customer service is excellent.
Signing up for a membership is free. Members are often treated to opportunities that we can’t get as individuals. For example, right now they are offering FREE access to Discover Education Streaming until August 31. Membership really does have it’s privileges!
