DIY.org‘s tagline on their homepage says it all: Get Skills. Be Awesome. Think of it as Scouts for the Maker crowd. It is set up like a scouting organization where you earn badges by completing a certain number of projects for each badge. Their skills include everything from ornithology to baking, from bike mechanics to industrial design. Each Skill has several Challenges to be completed to earn a badge. The Challenges are very open-ended and leave a lot of room for your child to be creative. Parents can log on to see what their kids are up to. The site is free to use. Badges cost $5 each if you want to order the actual patch.
